Cerebellum is also known as little brain. The cerebellum is similar to cerebrum in that it has two hemispheres and has a highly folded surface or cortex. The cerebellum is the second largest part of the brain, and is located at the back of the skull. Sections of cerebrum shows branching radiation of white matter into grey matter, called as arbor vitae.
Functions of Cerebellum
Functions of Cerebellum
- Cerebellum is associated with regulation and coordination of movement, posture and balance.
- The cerebellum receives sensory impulses from muscles, tendons, joints, eyes, and ears as well as input from other brain centres.
- Cerebellum’s unconscious directions and cerebrum’s conscious instructions determine how and when to move body parts.
